Slater Main Street is the working title for a painting that when completed will hang in the offices of the City of Slater.  Sponsored in part by the Slater Business Association and the Slater Community Club, the painting honors the heritage of small towns that first grew from the pioneering spirit then flowered with commitment, investment, and imagination.

Community main streets have come to symbolize the entrepreneurial spirit and strength of our economy.  Our interest in their preservation, in one form or another, is ultimately a reflection of hope, or at the very least optimism, and gratitude for those favorable circumstances we may now enjoy.  With hard work, good luck, and imagination anything is possible.

Dick will be working diligently to complete the painting in time for Slater's July 4th Celebration.

The painting is an extensive undertaking and additional funds will help in its completion.  Toward that end, pre-orders for prints are being taken.  Dr. Ken May recieved the honor of acquiring the first numbered print.  Orders for additional signed and numbered prints (2-100) are being taken.  If you'd like a specific number reserved, please let Dick Shook know.  Call 515-228-3217 or email dshook@huxcomm.net.   Reserve a print now for $100.  Prints will later be sold for $125.00.  (Shipping not included.)  If you'd like more information on a framed print, let Dick know and he'll get back to you on prices.
